Release The Kraken Birthday Ideas

Planning my son Mac's birthday party is always one of my favorite things to do. I have such a great time developing fun and creative things to do for his birthday every year. This year Mac turned 8 and I let him decide what he would like the theme to be. We had recently watched Pirates of the Caribbean and he had become fascinated with The Kraken which made him decide to do a Release the Kraken Birthday! Now this sounds like a cool theme but there was ZERO  ideas anywhere online. After searching Pinterest for hours I came to the conclusion I was on my own.

I was lucky enough that we had recently gone to a Pirate Themed charity event and just so happen to have some Pirate items such as a sword, netting, and some compasses from Party City. I picked a color scheme for the party and then contacted the Baker. Making the cake Kraken was the easiest way to incorporate the theme. The Baker did a fantastic job making my idea come to life!

A few more pirate items from Party City (gold coins, eye patches, more compasses) and a plastic witches cauldron from Halloween to hold the goodie bags and we were all set! I finished the look off with a ribbon curtain I made with fabric I purchased at Hobby Lobby which was time consuming but we ended up re-purposing it and using it in his Solar System Bedroom!
