Alcatraz East Crime Museum unlocks in Pigeon Forge!
criminals throughout history that you'll discover during your visit to the NEW Alcatraz East Crime
Museum!
The 25,000 sq ft facility is located at the entrance to the Island in Pigeon Forge, Alcatraz East
has 28 exhibit areas highlighting 5 themes:
*History of American Crime- This section starts with Medieval, times and then moves into Pirates where you can learn about Blackbeard and other famous pirates. Wild West comes next with some great artifacts like Jesse James' gun holster. Depression and Prohibition follows Wild West and was my favorite exhibit area which houses Bonnie and Clyde's typewriter and Al Capone's rosary. Modern Crimes take a look at white collar crimes from bank robbing to money laundering and online scams. Lots of photo ops in this section and a really awesome Prohibition Shooting Gallery!

*Consequences of Crime- This area showcases some very famous trials such as O. J. Simpson and Casey Anthony and then moves on to jail history and corporal punishment. You can take part in the booking process from fingerprinting to a suspect line-up. Some of my favorite items in this section are Prisoner art, a cell breakout for kids, and"Old Smoky" the electric chair from Tennessee State Prison.

*CSI- This section starts with a crime scene where you can gather evidence and then use it in the CSI lab to solve a crime. They also highlight Dr. Bass who is the founder of East Tennessee's very own "Body Farm".This exhibit is a CSI fans dream!

*Crime Fighting- Even though the museum covers a lot of criminal acts it also pays an amazing tribute to our Law Enforcement officers from past to present. You can see police equipment to a police motorcycle and event practice your police skills by checking out the modern police shooting range. This also houses the laser maze which is a fun add-on for kids and adults to enjoy!
Heist Laser Maze |
*Counterfeit & Pop Culture- This was a really fascinating section that houses counterfeit items along with the "real deal". It was cool to compare merchandise and they also had a section covering sports crimes such as Micheal Vick and others.
The biggest thing people should know is that this place is fun for all ages!
Kids can enjoy:
*Jail Cell Escape
*Prohibition Shooting Gallery
*Modern Police Shooting Range
*Heist Laser Maze
*Numerous Photo Ops
*Top Detective Challenge
Some of our famous artifacts that I really enjoyed seeing include:
*John Dillinger’s Car
*Al Capone’s Rosary
*The Bronco used in the OJ Simpson chase
*Al Pacino’s machine gun from Scarface
*John Wayne Gacy's Clown Suits
*Charles Manson's Artwork
Overall, it is a great new addition to Pigeon Forge with something for all ages to enjoy. If you really want to take everything in it will take you around 3 hours and I suggest going the VIP ticket route so you can do the laser maze, Top Detective Challenge and the audio tour!
